Tangley Boutique Bed and Breakfast, Christchurch, New Zealand

History

The name. Why Tangley?

The name ‘tangley’ is Anglo-Saxon, the earliest reference in 1174 being ‘tanglea’ meaning wood or clearing. Your hosts have named Tangley on Clyde after Janet’s ancestral estate of Little Tangley, Surrey, England, which dates back to 1656.

The Tangley on Clyde boutique bed and breakfast in Christchurch, New Zealand provides a strong sense of history. The Edwardian home was built in 1906 for an affluent Christchurch family.

Current day Tangley on Clyde has taken this Edwardian history and enhanced it through Ian and Janet’s elegant style and attention to detail, creating divine hosted accommodation.

This family connection is echoed through the modern day Clyde road home with family being the forefront of Ian and Janet’s passion for people and entertaining.

This hidden treasure is more than just a B&B as it draws on heritage that provides a little more contemporary interpretation of a previous grand lifestyle.
