Tangley on Clyde
July 14th - 20th 2009

I knew that booking Tangley on Clyde as our family's base for our daughter's wedding in Christchurch would be the ideal solution for organising a wedding where the bride's parents came from the North Island and the bride from Sydney. I could see from the website and from a great friend that it would provide the 'home away from home' base we sought.

What I did not know was how the actual experience would far surpass the expected. The way in which Janet and Ian offer thier home is certainly exceptional. Our family took over Tangley for six days. We had members of our extended family calling in continuously, we hosted a wonderful evening for all the Christchurch Aunts and Uncles followed by a wonderful hot buffet meal that Janet prepared for us and the bridal party. With the bridal party coming from all over the world it was very special to host them at Tangley. Janet's meal was perfect and provided an opportunity for everyone to catch up and get acquainted before the more formal events.

Preparations on the day were wonderful, with four bridesmaids and a bride it was perfect for having out make up and hair ladies set up and get everyone ready. janet fed all the family as well as the bridesmaids and our make up and hair ladies. Beautiful muffins and scones for morning tea and then a wonderful lunch.

All the people involved with helping with the wedding were simply amazed at home Tangley and Janet coped with everything. The make up and hair ladies found the light and set up brilliant. The photographer was wowed by the way the light poured into the upstairs bedrooms for the pre-wedding shoots. Our wedding planner was so impressed by everything..... no more so than when the brides sister's zip completely went and Janet calmly got her sewing kit and sewed her into the dress with fishing line!

Then we were off to the wedding leaving behind chaos which when we returned in the wee hours was all sorted out... and Janet babysat our little Liam.

There are so many things one could say about Tangley but it provided a haven for us in the lead up to a big wedding. It also gave us quality family time which, with a grown up family living away, is so important to us now. I will long remember sitting at the dinning room table at Tangley with all my family and their partners and our grandchild having a wonderful breakfast each day. Something I would not have been able to achieve in our own home!
